Restoration work begins on the Sudi Efendi Mosque

Originally built as a masjid in the 16th century, and then as a mosque in the 18th and 19th centuries, the Sudi Efendi Mosque is located in the center of Pristina. In the presence of the acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, the acting Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajrulla Çeku, and representatives of the Islamic Community of Pristina and the Institute of Islamic Cultural Heritage, the restoration work began on this mosque of historical, cultural and religious importance for the city and the local community.

The restoration project envisages the consolidation of the mosque’s structure, the removal of the surrounding premises and its return to use by the Muslim community. It has been selected as a priority restoration project, within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Islamic Community of Kosovo. The value of the investment by the Ministry of Culture is 639,776.36 Euros.

Prime Minister Kurti was informed about the details of the project, the work plans and the history of the mosque, while expressing his support for this project and wishing successful work.
