The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by the Acting Minister of Finance, Labor and Transfers and the Acting Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Taulant Kelmendi, visited the Gemix factory for paints, facades, and construction materials in Peja.
Gemix was established in 2012 as a sister company of Orbita LLC, which was engaged in the trade and distribution of paints, coatings, and construction chemicals. Initially, it produced only a few products, such as water-based indoor and outdoor paints, mineral and acrylic plasters, and mosaic coatings. Later, it expanded its range to include dry products, cement-based tile adhesives, and thermal insulation adhesives. With support from R&D partners from Italy and Germany, Gemix developed high-quality products that distinguished the company in the market, not only in Kosovo but throughout the Balkans. The company uses high-grade raw materials, offering 30–40% better quality compared to other products in the same price category.
In 2016, Gemix built a production line for dry products in Komoran. The facility includes about 3,500 m² of storage and production space, and 900 m² of offices and laboratories. The new production line has a capacity of around 15,000 kg per hour, consolidating Gemix as a significant producer in the field of cement-based products.
During the visit, Prime Minister Kurti was informed about the working conditions, equipment, and modern production machinery. This year, the company has recorded around a 60% increase in exports. In addition to Kosovo, its products offer quality and competitive prices in more than 10 other countries, including EU countries such as France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Greece, Croatia, and Slovenia. He thanked the owner, Avni Podrimaj, and the workers for their hospitality and continuous work, as well as for their important contribution to the country’s economy and its promotion through the quality of the products they manufacture.
Gemix is one of the many businesses that have benefited from government support; it is a beneficiary of the investment loan subsidy measure within the Economic Recovery Package.
