Prishtina, 20 June 2025
Today, the Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, welcomed the members of the intergovernmental working group for the Prizren–Tetovo Road, together with the Deputy Minister of Transport of North Macedonia, Kaltrina Zekolli Shaqiri, and the Acting Deputy Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, Hysen Durmishi.
This group operates within the joint technical mechanism established between the two countries for the implementation of one of the most important infrastructure projects—the Prizren–Tetovo Road link.
Today’s meeting marked a concrete step forward toward the implementation of this strategic project, which has been the subject of ongoing discussions between the two countries. It was announced during the meeting that, within a short period of time, the North Macedonian side will secure the design assignment for the Tetovo–Prizren segment, a key development that paves the way for the drafting of the project and the preparation of construction standards.
Earlier in the day, the working group held a working session during which they thoroughly addressed the points of the design assignment, aiming to move swiftly into the phase of determining the technical criteria and subsequently opening the tendering procedure for the project design.
This was the second official meeting of the working group since its establishment. The representatives of both governments are working with strong commitment and intensity to advance all necessary procedures. The cooperation demonstrates the shared political and institutional will to implement this project, which will connect citizens and strengthen the economies of both countries.
Prime Minister Kurti thanked the members of the intergovernmental working group for their cooperation and dedication and reaffirmed the full support of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo for the Prizren–Tetovo Road project.
