Foundation Stone Laid for Public Semi-Olympic Swimming Pool in Podujevë Municipality, Investment Close to 4 Million Euros

The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by the Acting Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajrulla Çeku, Deputy Minister Daulina Osmani, and together with the Mayor of Podujeva Municipality, Shpejtim Bulliqi, laid the foundation stone for the semi-olympic swimming pool in this municipality.

The semi-olympic swimming pool represents an investment close to four million euros, of which nearly three and a half million euros come from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, while the remainder is an investment by the Municipality of Podujeva. The total construction area will be approximately 4,556 square meters, including the ground floor, first floor, and basement. This project foresees the construction of a pool for professional and competitive swimming, another pool for children, as well as accompanying recreational and gastronomic spaces.

Prime Minister Kurti stated that with this project, the citizens of Podujeva will have a pleasant environment where they can take care of their health through the sport of swimming, and also socialize together in a public space that cares for the well-being of its citizens. He thanked Mayor Shpejtim Bulliqi and Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajrulla Çeku for their excellent cooperation.
This will be the second public semi-olympic pool in the country, after the one in Deçan Municipality.

We are here together with the host, Mayor of Podujeva Municipality, Shpejtim Bulliqi, the Acting Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajrulla Çeku, and his deputy Daulina Osmani, who is responsible for sports, as we lay the foundation stone for the second semi-olympic swimming pool, after the one in Deçan, which will be public.

The total cost is close to 4 million euros, of which half a million is investment from the Municipality of Podujevë, while nearly 3.5 million euros come from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

The total area where this semi-olympic swimming pool will be built is approximately 4,556 square meters across three floors: basement, ground floor, and first floor. There will be a pool for professional and competitive swimming, another pool for children, as well as other accompanying spaces for recreation, gastronomy, and so forth, so that the citizens of Podujevë, when they come here, will have a pleasant environment where they can maintain their health, swim, and socialize together in a public space that cares for the well-being of citizens.

I sincerely thank the Mayor of Podujeva Municipality, as well as our Minister of Culture, for this excellent cooperation that has resulted in the second public semi-olympic swimming pool in the Republic of Kosovo, at two ends of the country: first in Deçan and now in Podujevë.
