Prime Minister Kurti welcomed the non-resident Ambassador of Canada to Kosovo, Jessica Blitt, along with a delegation of Canadian senators

The acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, welcomed the non-resident Ambassador of Canada to Kosovo, Jessica Blitt, and a delegation of Canadian senators, consisting of Senator Rebecca Patterson, Senator Krista Ross, and Senator Mary Robinson.

The Prime Minister expressed deep gratitude for Canada’s continued support for Kosovo, highlighting the shelter of over 7,000 refugees during the war, as well as Canada’s contribution of over 2,000 soldiers to KFOR and development assistance of over $150 million since 1999.

The Prime Minister congratulated the Ambassador on the recent parliamentary elections and invited the new Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, for an official visit to Kosovo.

The meeting discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of security and defense, highlighting cooperation in Defender Europe 2025 and the Canadian Military Training Cooperation Program (MTCP) following Kosovo’s inclusion in November 2024. The Prime Minister expressed his readiness and willingness to expand economic and trade cooperation, while presenting the opportunities that the Republic of Kosovo offers in this regard.

The meeting also discussed regional security challenges, neighboring relations and current topics.

The Prime Minister thanked him for the meeting and emphasized the importance of Canada for Kosovo, the common democratic values ​​that we share and the strong bilateral partnership.
