The stay in the United States of America of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, at the High Level Week of the United Nations General Assembly, continued with the next meeting with the Prime Minister of Iceland, Bjarni Benediktsson.

Prime Minister Kurti thanked the state of Iceland for its continuous and unwavering support to Kosovo in the state-building stages. He also expressed his gratitude for the support for the liberalization of visas with the countries of the Schengen area and for Kosovo’s membership in international organizations, especially in the Council of Europe.

The parties discussed the importance of further developing bilateral relations through increased economic cooperation and commercial exchange, also within EFTA, as a good platform for concrete economic cooperation.

Expressing the pro-Western orientation of the Republic of Kosovo and the key goal of the country for NATO membership, where Iceland is one of the founding members, Prime Minister Kurti asked for Iceland’s support for joining this organization.

During the meeting, there was also talk about support for the reopening of low airspace, where the prime minister also asked for Iceland’s support for our membership in organizations such as ICAO, EASA and Eurocontrol.

As he emphasized once again the willingness and willingness to deepen bilateral cooperation, Prime Minister Kurti expressed his gratitude for the fruitful meeting and conversation.
