Tahiri: Kosovo achieved international recognition in the power transmission system
Upon signing the agreement for connection between KOSTT, as Transmission System Operator (TSO) of the Republic of Kosovo and ENTSO European organization represented by 30 OST of the Regional Group Continental Europe, Minister for Dialogue Edita Tahiri, stated at the press conference as follows.
Minister Edita Tahiri highly appreciated the achievement of international agreements between KOSTT and ENTSO stressing that through this agreement Kosovo has gained international recognition in the power transmission system and has become the only regulatory area of its activity and its power transmission. With this agreement, Kosovo has achieved international subjectivity in the field of energy transmission and KOSTT and henceforth KOSTT will be the only regulatory partner in its regulation transmission system in the region. This great achievement in the field of energy is a result of the Brussels Dialogue respectively Agreement for Energy which removed barriers of Serbia, which had blocked Kosovo issue, stressed Tahiri.
Energy Agreement of 2013 had foreseen the removal of barriers from Serbia towards international advances of the state of Kosovo in the field of energy. However, Serbia for two years had blocked Kosovo recognition as an international entity in the field of transmission at the European organization ENTSO-S. After reaching an agreement on removing the barrier on 25 August 2015 in Brussels, Serbia has finally removed the political barriers and stopped obstructions in this process, she emphasized. These achievements are in the spirit of the Treaty of the Energy Community for Southeast Europe which Kosovo has witnessed state capacity through KOSTT which has advanced its work according to European standards.
This agreement establishes the electric border between Kosovo and Serbia and Serbia ends interventions in Kosovo’s transmission system. The effects are political, economic and security and that KOSTT will now operate as Kosovo transmission system in accordance with the European Transmission System electricity.
