Minister for the dialogue Edita Tahiri, held a meeting with UN Women Director for Europe and Central Asia Ingibjorg Solrun Gisladottir and Flora Macula, head of UN Women in Kosovo, in which they discussed the latest developments in Kosovo and joint commitments to strengthen women’s role in regional cooperation processes.
Minister Tahiri, who is the Chair of the Regional Lobby of South-eastern Europe Women, spoke about the progress and challenges of the process of empowerment of women, saying that Kosovo has made progress in this direction but there should be additional commitments for advancing the position of women especially in decision-making.
“Regional Women Lobby remains committed for the empowerment of women in decision-making and peace processes across the region, for the empowerment of women is a strategic investment for the development process and Euro-Atlantic integrations for all countries in the region,” said Minister Tahiri. She thanked UN Women for continued support of women agenda and highly praised the strategic partnership between UN Women and Regional Women Lobby (RWLSEE).
Director of UN Women Ms Gisladottir appreciated the work of Regional Women Lobby and the great contribution that they are giving to advance the position of women in the region, and to promote regional cooperation among women politicians and civil society for a better future for everyone. She promised continued support for the agenda of the Regional Women Lobby.
