Prishtina, 20 January 2022
A joint one-day workshop of sector working groups on environment, energy and transport, which were established by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to initiate the drafting the Priority List of Infrastructure Projects (PLIP), was held today. The workshop was organized by the Office of the Prime Minister, with the support of technical assistance provided by the European Union. During the workshop, the criteria and methodology of work of sector working groups and the most appropriate timelines for the completion of work for each sector were discussed.
The PLIP will be Kosovo’s main response to the EU Investment Plan and will serve to list the country’s major infrastructure projects, which will be funded by combinations of various funds, including IPA III, and in particular from Western Balkan Investment Framework (WBIF) sources.
The Priority List of Infrastructure Projects was first drafted in Kosovo in 2015 and in 2017 it was further updated, as an obligation undertaken within the Berlin Process. The PLIP now aims to reflect the most priority infrastructure projects, in line with the country’s approved policies and EU policies, in particular the Investment Plan and the Green Agenda. Sector working groups will select projects in their fields and following consultations with development partners, the final list will be approved by the Strategic Planning Commission chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo.
