Chaired by Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo held its regular meeting, in which they approved the Draft Law on the Ratification of the first International Agreement on principles regulating the normalization of relations between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Serbia and the agreement implementation plan. In the meeting, they also approved the Draft Law to amend and supplement the Law on Administrative Borders of Municipalities.
At the start of the meeting, Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi, stressed that with the approval of the agreement the conditions have been created for both governments for the legal and constitutional ratification of the agreement. Therefore, Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi concluded that the approval and processing of this draft law for approval in the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo and its signing by the President, opens up the path for the full implementation of this agreement by Kosovo’s institutions, by those of the European Union Mission in Kosovo, EULEX, by KFOR and by the OSCE Mission in Kosovo.
Following this, the government cabinet approved the Draft Law on the Ratification of the first International Agreement on principles regulating the normalization of relations between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Serbia, harmonized on April 19, 2013 by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, approved by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, on April 22, 2013 and by the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, on April 22, 2013.
In addition, the Draft Law ratifies the Implementation Plan for this agreement, harmonized on May 22, 2013 by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, approved by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo on May 24, 2013.
This law will be implemented by the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, with the assistance of the European Union, KFOR, and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. The law shall enter into force immediately after it is promulgated by the President of the Republic of Kosovo.
The Draft Law amending and supplementing the Law on Administrative Borders of Municipalities, approved today in the government meeting, defines changes to the administrative borders of municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo. The issue addressed in the amending and supplementing of this Draft Law relates to the changing of administrative borders of the municipalities of Gjakova and Prizren.
The Draft Law on amending the Law on Administrative Borders of Municipalities defines cadastral zones in the municipalities of Gjakova and Prizren, as well as the cadastral zones of new municipalities, the Municipality of Rogova and the Municipality of Gjonaj.
