In the premises of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, the first meeting of the working group was held to determine the procedures for the establishment of the Translation, Harmonization and Linguistic Control Unit within the Office of Prime Minister.
Headed by the Commissioner for Languages, Slavisa Mladenovic, the purpose of this working group is the implementation of the Concept document for the establishment of the Harmonization Unit, whose task would be to analyze the translation of draft laws and harmonize the versions in official languages.
During the meeting of the working group, the proposals for the formation and systematization of the Harmonization Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister, the issues of personnel, the budget, as well as the creation of formal conditions for its establishment and functioning were discussed in principle.
In addition to the permanent members of the working group, representatives of the Embassy of Switzerland, the OSCE Mission in Kosovo and IOM participated as observers and donors. During today’s meeting, the representatives of these organizations presented the plans for supporting the creation of the Unit
to the members of the working group. The next meeting of the Working Group is scheduled to be held on December 12.
