And the award that bears the name of Shaban Jashari, in this event, was given to the teacher Shkëndije Jashari from the “Meto Bajraktari” Primary and Secondary School in Prishtina.

Prime Minister Kurti’s complete speech at the “Teacher’s Day” demonstration:

Dear Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Mrs. Edona Maloku-Bërdynaj,
Dear educators and teachers, educators and teachers, teachers in general,
Dear directors, dear activists of the national issue and activists for education in the Albanian language,
Dear students,
Ladies and gentleman,
Sisters and brothers,

The foundation of freedom is the liberation war and other efforts, but the pillars and the peak of our building of freedom are placed by education.

Today is Teacher’s Day or Albanian education day, Albanians wherever they are in their historical lands, here in the Balkan region or even in exile, we honor the generations of teachers who have given their blood and sweat to keep the light of education burning even in more difficult times.

Historically, among our people, the commitment to education and Albanian education on the one hand and the struggle for national freedom on the other hand have never been separate.

By being committed to the school, you are committed to freedom, by being committed to freedom, you are committed to the school.

Today, we are on the third day of the Epopee of the Kosovo Liberation Army, of course remembering that Shaban Jashari was also a teacher. So he was the teacher of his sons, Hamëz and Adem, but he was also a teacher in Drenica and Prekaz, where the school now bears his name.

From Pandeli Sotiri, who founded the first Albanian secular school in March 1887 in Korça, to today’s teachers and teachers who work daily with pupils and students, their contribution is so great that it will never be we can thank them enough.

We are dedicated to the school, students and teachers, we are returning their dignity, and we are returning quality to the school.

Thank you, and I am very grateful for all the contribution you have made and are making. At the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, at the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, you will always have the infrastructure that will support you, but at the same time also the guiding policy that understands that any discussion about economic development and social progress ends as a discussion about education, where the teacher, the teacher, is together with the student, the student in the center.

So, happy March 7, dear teachers. Congratulations to everyone!

Thank you!
