Prime Minister Kurti welcomed the activist of the Albanian emigrant in the USA, Jim Xhema

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister, Luan Dalipi, today welcomed the outstanding activist of the Albanian exile in the United States of America, Jim Xhema, together with the Chairman of the Pan Albanian Federation VATRA, Ilmi Berisha , representatives of the Albanian-American Business Network and businessmen from America and Canada.

Welcoming him to Kosovo, Prime Minister Kurti thanked Mr. Xhema for his valuable contribution to the promotion and strengthening of the Albanian and Kosovo issue in the USA, especially through good relations with Senator Bob Dole and Congressman Tom Lantosh. The role of the Albanian diaspora in America, he added, was key for the liberation and independence of the country, and that even today it continues to be equally important in the development and affirmation of Kosovo.

Further, Prime Minister Kurti informed Mr. Xhema and others for the latest developments in the country and region, the challenges ahead, but also for the government’s work and achievements in the field of the rule of law, for the reforms undertaken, the economic and democratic progress that have been evidenced in international reports.

Jim Xhema was decorated today by the President of the country, Vjosa Osmani, with the Order of Freedom medal, for his extraordinary contribution to the freedom and independence of Kosovo.

Present at this meeting were Christopher Hyland, a close associate of former American President Bill Clinton and the leader of his presidential campaign, as well as the mayor of the Municipality of Pristina, Përparim Rama.
