The complete media statement of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albi Kurti, after the meeting with the Assistant Administrator for Europe and Eurasia at USAID, Ambassador Erin E. McKee:
Dear representatives of the media,
Dear citizens,
Allow me once again welcome you to Kosovo, after the meeting we had with the USAID Assistant Administrator for Europe and Eurasia, Ambassador Erin McKee.
Welcome Mrs. McKee. It was a pleasure to welcome you to the Government Building.
We discussed the USAID projects that are being implemented in Kosovo and the new opportunities.
USAID’s assistance to Kosovo to date amounts to more than 1 billion dollars and crosses each phase of our new history as a country and each sector of our country’s development. For each dollar we are grateful as a people, as a country and as institutions.
The scope of this agency is very sectorial. It includes areas such as justice, economy, democracy, energy and governance.
In all these areas, our country has made progress in the less than 21 months of our government.
I informed Ms. McKee with the latest economic and democratic indicators, for progress in the rule of law and the fight against corruption, the current and further reforms in the justice system and the legal framework, good governance and our plans for investments in the energy sector.
Growth, improvement and development are proof of strong partnership with our friends, but at the same time they are also an invitation for even more cooperation.
We share common values, orientations and interests with the United States of America.
We share with the American people strong common convictions for freedom, justice and democracy.
At USAID we find the United States of America as a country and the friendly American people.
Therefore, let’s expand the ties and deepen the cooperation, in the service of both countries and our two peoples on the basis of the values and convictions we share.
