The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosova, Albin Kurti, participated in the now traditional “International Tomato Festival” in the Municipality of Mamusha, which aims to stimulate agricultural production, especially the production of tomatoes.

Prime Minister Kurti said that he is satisfied that he was in Mamushë today, in the municipality which is an example in terms of agricultural activity and not only.

“More from nostalgia, than from poverty, the tomato has been a source of nutritional value, where as children even hunger did not separate us from playing”, said Prime Minister Kurti.
As the government of the Republic of Kosova, The prime minister said that through support programs we have increased the support for vegetables, either in greenhouses or in the open field, through financial support within the program of direct payments or subsidies, and that with this support we aim to improve the trade balance in the import of vegetables while protecting our local producers and their products.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister highlighted how as a government we have shown how much we prioritize this sector, where in addition to increasing the budget for agriculture, this year for the first time we cover the value of the oil excise with 54 euros per hectare, for every agricultural crop, including vegetables. The Municipality of Mamusha, as the Prime Minister said, is the part of the mosaic that complements and gives added value to agriculture in Kosovo, being an example that should be followed by all.

Willingness and dedication to work the land results in quality products; and this is what characterizes Mamusha, he said among other things.

Prime Minister Kurti’s full speech:

The honorable mayor of Mamusha Municipality, Abdülhadi Krasniç
Dear Minister of Regional Development, Fikrim Damka
Dear members of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosova, Enis Kervan and Fidan Jilta
Dear guests from Turkey
Members of the Assembly of the Republic of Turkey and Mayors of Municipalities,
Dear Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey, Your Excellency, Cagri Sakar
Ladies and gentleman,
Sisters and brothers,

It is a pleasure to be among you today here in Mamushe, in the municipality which is an example in terms of agricultural activity and not only. Cheese and tomato bread is one of the most frequent meals on our tables today, especially when we have the fresh local tomato, healthy and full of flavor.

More from nostalgia than from poverty, the tomato has also been a source of nutritional value, where as children even hunger did not separate us from playing. Today, as the government of the Republic of Kosovo, through support programs, we have increased support for vegetables either in greenhouses or in the open field through financial support within the direct payment program or subsidies.

With this support, we aim to improve the trade balance in the import of vegetables, protecting our local producers and their products. Great potential for the economic development of our country is precisely agriculture.

As a government, we have shown how much we prioritize this sector, where, in addition to increasing the budget for agriculture, this year for the first time we cover the value of the oil excise with 54 euros per hectare, for every agricultural crop, including vegetables.

The municipality of Mamusha is the part of the mosaic that complements and gives added value to agriculture in Kosova, being an example that should be followed by all. Willingness and dedication to work the land results in quality products; and this is what characterizes Mamusha. As citizens of the Republic of Kosova, we must prioritize local products by becoming part of the finalization of the value chain through their purchase.

By buying local products, we help our farmer. In this way, the farmer increases production and increases the quality of production. This is how the economy grows, the well-being of the citizen rises and the state is strengthened.

The demands of the municipality of Mamusha and its residents will surely meet with the understanding of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.

We listen more attentively to your requests about your needs and your rights. The Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee for Agriculture and Environment, Fitore Pacolli, was here a few days ago precisely to discuss the issue of drinking water in Mamushe..

Together with Minister Damka, but also with other line ministers, with Minister Aliu, then with Minister Peci and with Minister Krasniqi of Local Government Administration, so Agriculture, Environment, they will be the ones who will discuss it to make a plan so that even in Mamushe we will finally have drinking water.

The government and the municipality must help each other, the people and the state must help each other. Together, there is no difficulty that we cannot overcome. May your hard work be rewarded, and may your work be accompanied by prosperity.

God bless you!
