The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, hosted a group of students and young people from the diaspora, members of the Albanian Youth Organization Mannheim/Heidelberg (AYO), VaS, Association of Albanian Students in Stuttgart and Social Studies Diversity and Inclusion Expert, with whom he talked and exchanged ideas about the possibilities of how they can contribute in Kosovo.

The meeting discussed the services that the institutions of Kosovo offer to emigrants and the possible projects in the future through which bridges of cooperation between the youth in Kosovo and those in diaspora could be built.

Prime Minister Kurti emphasized that the Government of the Republic of Kosovo values the diaspora as a factor for the country’s development and aims to increase the engagement of diaspora professionals in the compilation of development and strategic policies, in the implementation of policies, as well as for joint investments with local enterprises.

He mentioned the government’s initiatives for a national program for the transfer of knowledge and experience from the diaspora in Kosovo, and the deepening of cooperation with Kosovo’s institutions in the fields of education and innovation.

The Prime Minister said that we are changing governance for the better, but it may take a little more time for the ‘brain-drain’ to begin to change course for the better and eventually become a strong turn of the ‘brain-gain’.

Having the right people and professionals in the right places is essential, that’s why we are very interested as a government to attract talented professionals, inside or outside the country, he emphasized.

The youth of the diaspora informed the prime minister about the activities of their association and organizations and expressed their readiness for cooperation with the youth of Kosovo.
