The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosova, Albin Kurti, met today with the police officers who participated in last night’s action against smuggling in Leposaviq, including those who were injured, and the Director of the Kosova Police, Samedin Mehmeti.
Our police officers demonstrate every day determination and skill to ensure legality throughout the territory of the Republic. While the professional work of the police officers has managed to bring the suspects to justice, the latter, in this case the Prosecutor’s Office, releases one of the suspects in a regular procedure, according to the statements of the police officers.
Prime Minister Kurti expressed his gratitude for their bravery and professionalism as regards their duties, while wished them a full recovery as soon as possible.
He emphasized that the rule of law is evidenced by the diligent work of the prosecution and efficient judiciary. In the absence of the latter, the actions of the Police, and thus the provision of public order, remain unfinished. And in order to prove the commitment and ability to establish the rule of law, the further actions of the prosecutor’s office should be awaited, he said.
Prime Minister Kurti added that the fight against organized crime and the establishment of order and legality remain among the main priorities of the Government and that the Kosova Police will always have full their support as regards this.
