The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, met with 12 Ukrainian journalists who are living in the country’s capital, within the program supported and financed by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, Journalists-in-Residence (JiR Kosovo).

He welcomed to the Prime Minister’s Office Lyudmila, Serhit, Marina, Victoria, Lyudmila, Irynaa, Oksana, Kateryna, Lyudmila, Olga, Anastasia and Olena and her six-year-old daughter who recently joined her in Pristina. “It is a special honor and pleasure to meet you on this holiday”, said Prime Minister Kurti, adding that he and the people of Kosovo sympathize with their pain and losses and that they feel a humane, civic and institutional duty to help. He thanked them for their endurance in Ukraine, where the partners of the two journalists are at the front of the war, as well as for their work in Kosovo through various journalistic articles.

The journalists expressed their deep gratitude for the support and warm hospitality offered to them by Kosovo and its people. This has made them feel at home in these difficult times for them, their people and their country. They shared with the prime minister their experiences in Kosovo and their professional commitments.

Prime Minister Kurti wished Orthodox Christmas to Ukrainian journalists of Orthodox faith who are still celebrating today. Orthodox Christmas this year for the first time is being celebrated on two dates, on December 25 and January 7, by decision of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) after the unprovoked invasion of the Russian Federation on Ukraine.

Representatives of the Association of Journalists of Kosovo, implementers of the JiR program, and the European Center for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF) were also present at the meeting.
