Prishtina, 30 August 2022

At the invitation of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, in the premises of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, a meeting was held with the leaders of the opposition parliamentary parties. The purpose of the meeting was to inform the opposition leaders and discuss with them about the meeting of August 18 in Brussels and about the details regarding the dialogue.

Two of the three leaders of the opposition, namely the chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku and the chairman of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, had responded positively to the meeting invitation. In this meeting, Prime Minister Kurti was accompanied by the first deputy prime minister, Besnik Bislimi.

In the press release after the meeting, Prime Minister Kurti said that it is his willingness and interest to inform the political parties, which are not part of the Government, as much as possible, so that they understand that the Government is both responsible in dialogue and accountable in relation to dialogue.

The full pronunciation of Prime Minister Kurti:

He said that since the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo has a break until mid-September, it was seen as important to have a meeting at this time when the agreement was reached, that neither on the side of the border of Serbia nor on that of Kosovo no more entry-exit documents are issued.
In the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, you know that we have a break until mid- September, so this is also the reason why we considered that this meeting at the end of August is of particular importance, when the agreement was reached that neither on the side of the border of Serbia nor on that of Kosovo should there be any more entry-exit documents.

Despite this, despite the agreement for those who have been forcibly disappeared, and for the issue of energy in the north, we remain committed to the general framework of the legally binding agreement, this agreement, which brings full normalization, because it is based on mutual recognition.

So, we also discussed the details of the dialogue which we developed and I believe that it is an increased cooperation, which gives hope for more mutual communication between the majority or the Government and the opposition.
