Pristina, March 20, 2023

At his invitation, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the first deputy Prime Minister, Besnik Bislimi, received the ambassadors, charge d’affaires, heads of diplomatic missions and deputy ambassadors accredited to Kosovo.

In this broad and joint meeting, he informed them about the progress of the talks on Saturday in Ohrid, North Macedonia, and about the result reached there with the public agreement on the annex to the implementation of the Basic Agreement.

In the text of the Annex agreed in Ohrid, it is stated that Kosovo and Serbia are fully committed to respect all articles of the Agreement and the Annex, and to implement all their respective obligations – deriving from the Agreement and the Annex – in a manner appropriate and in good faith. It also states that Kosovo and Serbia agree that all articles are implemented independently of each other.

Prime Minister Kurti emphasized that the delegation of the Republic of Kosovo has been maximally dedicated and constructive, but also creative with offers and proposals that were rejected by the other side, which, like in Brussels on February 27, again refuses to sign.

The way to proceed with Kosovo’s application for membership in the Council of Europe and the European Union is open.

As for the membership in the Council of Europe, Kosovo already has the necessary number of votes of the member states, while the legal department of the Council has confirmed that there is no legal obstacle for the full membership of the Republic of Kosovo in this important organization.
