Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci, hosted students from the most prestigious universities in the world, supported by scholarships from MESTI.
In the meeting, the continuous work and dedication of the Government for the expansion of opportunities for young people, especially for students, for development and employment was emphasized. The Government’s decision on free public higher education for everyone studying at the bachelor and master degrees, as well as the distribution of over 3,000 scholarships for distinguished students for studies at home and abroad, were singled out. The need to close the gender gap in science was discussed, while the distribution of 1,365 scholarships for girls and women students in STEM fields was emphasized.
Reiterating that the support of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo for young people will not stop, it was said that through these decisions it is intended to encourage interest in higher studies as well as to improve the general educational level of the population, contributing to the development of the human capital, as a prerequisite for economic development and social progress.
In the wake of these measures, MESTI has already announced the public call for financial support for students, who this year have enrolled or continue their master’s studies in the most prestigious universities in the world according to the “Times Higher Education” list.
Priority will be given to students studying in the fields of engineering and information and communication technology, applicants with a poorer socio-economic status, persons with disabilities, as well as applicants who have completed their preliminary studies at the bachelor’s degree in public institutions. In order to increase the representation of women among researchers, women will be chosen with preference in cases of equal qualification of women and men candidates.
