Prime Minister Kurti: Kosovo Police and Kosovo Customs are the core of the public safety of our state

During the visit to the Customs Directorate of Kosovo, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo estimated the increase of almost 14 percent of revenues this year, or about 110 million euros more compared to last year in the same period. He also emphasized the fact that the general revenues for 2021 are over 30 percent more than in 2020, and the projection has been exceeded by nearly 10 percent.

In the joint meeting with the Minister of Finance, Labor and Transfers, Hekuran Murat and the Director of Kosovo Customs, Agron Llugaliu, in which customs officials from the customs points in the north of the country were also present, Prime Minister Kurti expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Director of Customs, the leadership of Kosovo Customs, but also to each of the 582 officials in total who work in this very important institution of the Republic.

Also, it was estimated that the value of confiscations and seizures this year is 5 million euros, 3 million euros more than last year for the same period.

The Prime Minister emphasized that based on the latest measurements, the trust of the citizens of the Republic for Kosovo Customs has also increased.

“A study by the World Bank has shown that the time of customs clearance has also improved greatly in the value of 36 percent for import and 16 percent for export compared to the previous measurement, and this is very important for foreign investors and in particular for the economy of Kosovo, for the business community, which with this data is undoubtedly encouraged to reinvest the profits of the savings”, emphasized the Prime Minister.

With all these main data about the customs of the Republic of Kosovo, we feel sure that we are in a progress, which is both enabled and protected by the Customs of the Republic which protect our society and are a fundamental part of public safety in our country, said Prime Minister Kurti.

Whereas, Minister Murati said that this visit today was an expression of thanks and gratitude for the work of Customs so far and of support for the work that awaits us. He said that the Ministry of Finance, Labor and Transport is committed to helping Customs in increasing its capacities, modernizing the equipment available and restoring the functions that Customs once had, such as the state customs terminals.
