By creating better infrastructural conditions for the development of the learning process, we create preconditions for raising the quality of education, said the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, on the occasion of the inauguration of the new school building for the “Luigj Gurakuqi” Primary and Lower Secondary School in Batllava.
In this new school building, with a total area of 1,100 m2, there are 10 classrooms equipped with modern inventory, which will be at the service of students and the community.
Now those classrooms should be humming with the sounds of work. There, students’ curiosity for knowledge should be encouraged, so that tomorrow we have good professionals and responsible citizens. Such, that will contribute to the development of this side and our entire country, the prime minister said.
The sword of knowledge is the sharpest technique of our civic and social development. It is the principle connection for a state with stable foundations and prosperity for the future, added he.
Together with the Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Mrs Arbërie Nagavci, the Prime Minister previously inaugurated the physical education hall of the “Luigj Gurakuqi” Lower Secondary School in Batllavë, with an area of 700m².
Prime Minister Kurti reiterated that education is our central pillar on which all other fields of the state and society are developed. He emphasized that for this purpose the Government has increased the education budget this year by 12%.
We have increased the support for students, so by the end of the mandate we will have 400 assistants for children with disabilities. We allocated a budget of 1.7 million euros for teachers in difficult health conditions. Yesterday we started with dual education, piloting four profiles, to close the existing skills gap, to connect the labour market with education and professional training. We started this September with the Unique Joint Primer with the Republic of Albania, he said.
Prime Minister Kurti congratulated the students, teachers and the whole community on the new school, wishing it to be a place of success and many joint achievements.

Dear teachers and students,
I am privileged to share with you the joy of the inauguration of the new school building for the “Luigj Gurakuqi” Primary and Lower Secondary School in Batllava. By creating better infrastructural conditions for the development of the learning process, we create preconditions for raising the quality of education.
In this new school building, with a total area of 1,100 m2, you will find 10 classrooms equipped with modern inventory, which will be at the service of students and the community. Now those classrooms should be humming with the sounds of work. There, students’ curiosity for knowledge should be encouraged, so that tomorrow we have good professionals and responsible citizens. Such, that will contribute to the development of this side and our entire country. Earlier, we were also at the inauguration of the physical education hall, with an area of 700 m². Because in our schools we need books and school desks for learning, but also sports halls and gymnastics for health. For a healthy and disciplined body of our children. For a clear and knowledgeable mind of our students. We need them both.
And in order to reach the limits of students’ potential, the role of teachers is irreplaceable. Teachers should be a superior example for students. They should reflect wisdom with responsibility, dignity and honesty. The wide and deep knowledge of the teacher is the humane deed that will raise all the students more and more. They are the ones to whom we trust recognition. The sword of knowledge is the sharpest technique of our civic and social development. It is the principle connection for a state with stable foundations and prosperity for the future. School is the intermediate sphere of these two tendencies, the self for the other in life.
Education is our central pillar on which all other fields of the state and society are developed. We are working with a multidimensional approach to strengthen education in the country. Our goal is to improve the educational conditions but also to raise the quality.
For this purpose, we increased the education budget this year by 12%. We have increased support for students, so by the end of the mandate we will have 400 assistants for children with disabilities. The Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation has already finalized the Education Strategy for the period 2022-2026, which we will soon review in the Government. Significant investments are foreseen in the field of early childhood education and in the field of information and communication technology.
By the end of this year, 17 preschool buildings are expected to be finalized where about 1,800 children will be educated. Meanwhile, for the next three years, we have already secured 18 million euros for initial investments in information and communication technology in the relevant infrastructure in schools
Dear students,
Today you are continuing the fight for knowledge in the new school building. I am convinced that you will preserve it and take care of it because it is your property, while it should also serve the generations that come after you. Get as much credit as possible from teachers. Spread as much love as you can to your friends. We, together, will be with you in every step that you will take forward.
