Prime Minister Kurti has been received in a meeting by the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has been received in a meeting by the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at the NATO Headquarters. The meeting was followed by a joint conference of Prime Minister Kurti and Secretary Stoltenberg.

Prime Minister Kurti expressed the highest appreciation to NATO, for the extraordinary contribution to freedom, reconstruction of infrastructure destroyed during the war and for the security of our country and our citizens.

Prime Minister Kurti said that “Kosovo has shown its commitment to the protection and promotion of common principles and values, as well as its commitment to contribute to security and peace, not only in the region but also in the world”.

He mentioned that the threats, risks and challenges that NATO is facing in the current security environment are also felt by our country. Prime Minister Kurti added that “Kosovo institutions and its citizens, in the current situation, have a reason to be vigilant against the destructive approach of our northern neighbour towards Kosovo and the region in general, under Russia’s detrimental agenda for Europe and the Balkans”.

Prime Minister Kurti highlighted the commitment of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to economic development, well-being of our citizens, to democracy, human and minority rights, security and to the rule of law and constitutionality.

The Secretary General reiterated NATO’s full commitment to its peacekeeping mission and mandate in Kosovo. Mr. Stoltenberg stated that KFOR is ready to intervene if stability is threatened.

This meeting was also attended by the First Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Development and Dialogue, Besnik Bislimi, Ambassador Agron Bajrami, Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Brussels, and Ambassador Astrit Zemaj, Representative if the Republic of Kosovo for relations with NATO, Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Brussels.
