October 27, 2022

Pristina, October 27, 2022

We are together in commitment and cooperation, for the realization of the objectives of this strategy, with the highest responsibility towards the homeland, towards our children and young people, to provide them with quality education and development, said the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kuti, at the launch of the Education Strategy 2022-2026, which was launched today with a ceremony organized by the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation.

This strategy is the main document for the development of the education sector in our country, in five strategic objectives, for the next five-year period, he added.

Early childhood education; raising the quality of pre-university education; harmonizing education and professional training with developments in technology and the labor market; quality, integrity and competitiveness of higher education; as well as the use of digital technology to improve services and quality in education, in accordance with the trends of digital transformation; are the main pillars for our overall development, said the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Kurti emphasized that quality education is an important source for the sustainable economic and social development of Kosovo, therefore the Government will continue with investments in this field.

For this, the Government has allocated 3.5 million euros for the provision of professional practice for students of vocational education and training schools, 106 scholarships to encourage girls to follow technical profiles and boys to follow deficit profiles, as well as about 1 thousand coupons for graduates of vocational schools to attend information technology courses. Digitization is among the priorities of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, in all areas, certainly in administration, certainly in health, certainly in industry, but especially in education. For the 2021/2022 academic year, we have allocated 1,365 university scholarships to female students in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, he said.

The Prime Minister reiterated that the Government and the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo are focused and committed to offer maximum opportunities in achieving the highest potentials for our children and young people, girls and boys, for the present, but also for the their future, for the their future of society and our state.

Dear members of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, from the Parliamentary Committee for Education, chairman and member, Mr. Ardian Gola and Mrs. Albena Reshitaj,
Teachers,
Dear attendees, ladies and gentlemen,

It is a special pleasure to be here today, together with you, at the official launch of the Education Strategy 2022-2026, which we approved last month at the meeting of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.

This strategy is the main document for the development of the education sector in our country, in five strategic objectives, for the next five-year period. First: Early childhood education; together with Minister Nagavci, we are coming from laying the foundation stone of a new kindergarten for children, between ‘Kolovica’ and ‘Kodra e Trimave’, here in the capital, and we will continue this in the future, with new constructions and additional quality. Second: raising the quality of pre-university education; we witness that often when students go to university for some things they can be a little late because the pre-university education was sometimes not of the right quality, and sometimes not so much quality. Third: harmonizing, or bridging of education and professional training with developments in technology and the labor market; we need to bridge this gap of skills. Fourth: quality, integrity and competitiveness of higher education; as well as (5) the use of digital technology for the improvement of servi
ces and quality in education, in accordance with the trends of digital transformation; they are also the main pillars for our overall development.

Dear attendees,

Quality education is an important source for the sustainable economic and social development of Kosovo, therefore we will continue with investments in this field. In 2022, we had the state budget for 12% higher, which was higher than the economic growth of the country, and thus also to facilitate teaching and learning, and to provide equal opportunities.

Digitization is among the priorities of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, in all fields, certainly in administration, certainly in health, certainly in industry, but especially in education. For the academic year 2021/2022, we have allocated 1365 university scholarships for female students in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM as it is briefly known otherwise.

The government and the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo are focused and committed to providing maximum opportunities in achieving the highest potentials for our children and young people, girls and boys, for the present, but also for their future, the future of our society and our state. It is the education system that should discover the talents of our youth and cultivate them where they have already been discovered, or will be discovered.

Ladies and gentleman,

Allow me to thank for the work and dedication, all the male and female specialists of various profiles who have participated in the drafting of the Education Strategy 2022-2026, and especially the German Government that has supported the planning process through GIZ Kosova.

We are together in commitment and cooperation, for the achievemnt of the objectives of this strategy, with the highest responsibility towards the homeland, towards our children and young people, to provide them with quality education and development.

Thank you!
