Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Albania, Kreshnik Collaku, as well as the outstanding scholar and priest of the Albanians of Italy Antonio Belushi, participants in the events of the week of tolerance in Kosovo.
At the meeting was discussed the overall situation and progress achieved in Kosovo and Albania, as well as joint efforts to strengthen relations with the Albanians of Italy.
The Deputy Prime Minister stressed on this occasion that the Government of Kosovo is committed to further strengthening of relations with Albania in the national and state level, as well as to implement the Euro-Atlantic vision, which traditionally belongs to the Albanian nation. She also stressed the Government’s commitment to strengthen ties with the Albanian diaspora in order to preserve the national identity, stressing how impressive it is that the Arberesh of Italy have managed to preserve and cultivate their Albanian identity for centuries. “Titled “Blood gone bad”, the work of prominent Arbëresh priest Antonio Belushi reveals how the dignity and integrity of the Albanian nation are protected thanks to the origin and virtues of the Albanian people, which are universally recognized,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
Albania’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Kreshnik Collaku said that Albania is committed to providing full support to strengthen the state of Kosovo, to progress on its path of Euro-Atlantic integration as well as to increase the number of recognitions.
The scholar and spiritual leader of the Albanians of Italy Antonio Belushi, stressed the importance of greater support for the Arberesh of Italy from Albania and Kosovo, among other things, through the intensification of cooperation and especially by providing educational opportunities to young Arberesh in Kosovo and Albania.
