The First Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Development and Dialogue of the Republic of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, hosted in a meeting the Speaker of the Parliament of the Land of Lower Austria, Karl Wilfing, accompanied by the First Deputy Speaker, Karl Moser, MPs Rene Pfister and Dieter Dorner. spokesperson Christoph Fuchs, the Ambassador of Austria to Kosovo, Christoph Weidinger and Deputy Ambassador Martin Schaller.
In this meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi spoke about the Government priorities in this year’s ambitious agenda toward European integration. After applying for membership in the Council of Europe, Kosovo intends to apply for membership in the EU within this year.
Another important issue was the topic of visa liberalization for Kosovo citizens, where the need for completing this process and the long waiting for the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo were emphasized.
Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi also informed Mr. Wilfing and the delegation of the advancements that Kosovo has made in economic development, rule of law, democratization, and combating organized crime and corruption.
Facing common challenges, such as the current energy crisis and inflation were other discussion topics.
Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi thanked the delegation for the visit, underlining the close partnership with the state of Austria and the full readiness for the advancement of cooperation between the two states.
