On the second day of his official visit to Brussels, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, met the President of the European Union, Herman Van Rompuy

The main theme of the meeting between the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi and President of the European Union, Herman Van Rompuy was recent developments in Kosovo, the legislative reforms that the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo are undertaking, strengthening rule of law, electoral reform as well as the Kosovo Government’s commitment to fully meeting the European integration agenda.
 
The President of the European Union Van Rompuy, in his meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi praised highly the commitment of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to fulfilling the European agenda, as well as their determination shown in technical dialogue between the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia.
 
In his meeting with the President of the European Union Van Rompuy, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, reemphasized the consistent commitment and determination of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and all Kosovar institutions to fulfilling the European agenda, focusing on the implementation of comprehensive reforms in politics, the economy and legislation.
 
In addition, Prime Minister Thaçi noted that the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo have fulfilled all criteria relating to the initiation of visa liberalization dialogue and justly expect this process to begin in the coming days. Prime Minister Thaçi welcomed the position presented by the EU Council of Ministers supporting the start of visa liberalization dialogue for Kosovo.
 
During the meeting with Prime Minister Thaçi, President Van Rompuy also asked about the economic situation and effect of the European crisis on Kosovo. Prime Minister Thaçi informed Mr. Rompuy that the Republic of Kosovo has not been touched by the crisis and regardless, Kosovo has had and is predicted to have economic growth, harmonizing all economic policies with the International Monetary Fund and World Bank.
