Prime Minister Kurti honors the victims and survivors of sexual violence during the war

On the Memorial Day of survivors of sexual violence during the last war in Kosovo, announced this year by the Government, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, honored the victims and survivors of sexual violence during the war in Kosovo.

With tributes at the Heroinat memorial, Prime Minister Kurti commemorated the victims of sexual violence, who are no longer among us, and honored the survivors for their unparalleled strength.
Prime Minister Kurti, together with the Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, laid flowers in front of the memorial, which commemorates thousands of women and girls, men and boys, victims and survivors of sexual violence, which was used as a weapon of war by the Serbian occupying forces in the last war in Kosovo.

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Rozeta Hajdari, the Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, Liburn Aliu, the leader of the parliamentary group of the Movement, also participated in the tribute. VETËVENDOSJE!, Mimoza Kusari Lila, Chief Executive Officer of the Agency for Gender Equality in the Office of the Prime Minister, Edi Gusia, the head of the Governmental Commission for the Recognition and Verification of the Status of Persons Violated During the War in Kosovo, Leonora Selmani, as well as other representatives of institutions.

In the 138th meeting, held on April 12, 2023, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, in coordination with the President of the Republic of Kosovo, announced April 14 as the Memorial Day of survivors of sexual violence during the last war in Kosovo.
